We visited the Glencoe Visitor Center and learned about the geology and wildlife of the Glencoe National Nature Reserve run by the National Trust of Scotland. At the Center we discovered the Highlanders have many different words for rain. We also had a chance to look at a traditional turf house rebuilt on the grounds.
Afterwards, we drove into the Reserve as far as Rannoch Moor. Then we headed back down the valley and took a walk named "The Study."
On the return trip to our B&B for the night, we stopped off to visit the Caledonian Canal. The canal provides a connection between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. It opened in 1822 and is about 60 miles long. We visited the area known as Neptune's Ladder where in a short distance the boats must pass through nine locks.
