Today we stopped off in Applecross and then drove over the Bealach na Ba pass, a single -track road with hairpin turns that goes from sea level to two thousand feet. Afterwards, we visited the Attendale Gardens, a favorite of the former Duke and Duchess of Rathesay - a title given to the Prince of Wales and in this case Charles and Camilla.
Then it was on to the Lochview Guesthouse on Loch Achilty in Contin. We did stop for a late lunch near Contin at Strathpeffer, a former Victorian Spa town. There we looked at a stone etched by the Picts (pre-Christian/early Middle Age) in a nearby field. In the evening, we took a walk to Rogie Falls (not far from the Guesthouse) to watch salmon moving up river to spawn. We did see a few but it is the very end of the season for them to be going up the river.
