This was distillery day.  We visited Lagavulin (Lah-guh-VOO-lin) and Laphroaig (La-froyg) distilleries.  Then we stopped off at the Arbeg distillery for lunch.  Both Lagavulin and Laphroaig are known for their single malts with a peaty flavor.  At Lagavulin we took a tour with tastings.  Later at Laphroaig, Ray claimed his dram for the square foot of land held in his name as lease holder since 2010.  The lease was earned through his membership as a Friend of Laphroaig - and by drinking a bottle or two of his favorite single malt.  We walked out to the fields to find his square foot and Ray planted a flag on the spot.

After lunch we went to see an 8th century Celtic cross at Kildalton Chapel.  The cross is made from bluestone and has carvings of Bible scenes.
