Today we left the Isle of Skye by afternoon ferry from Uig (ferry terminal pictured above behind tower) to Tarbert on the Isle of Lewis and Harris.  On the way to the ferry we visited a Fairy Glen near Uig.

The ferry ride was about an hour and a half.  We arrived in Tarbert in Harris and drove to Stornoway in Lewis.  Lewis and Harris is one Island.  However, the division into two parts is the result of a clan disagreement.  Harris' name is derived from Old Norse for "highland" and is known today for Harris Tweed.  Harris is hillier than Lewis.  Lewis is mostly a vast landscape of peat bogs and derives its name from the Gaelic word for "marshy."
